With the MLB trade deadline looming, it's time to put on our general manager hats and cook up some creative deals that are sure to make some noise. Even though there might be more buyers than sellers this year because so many teams are still in the playoff race, these eight ideas could be possible—or they could be completely crazy.
On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman cook up some trades that could help bolster lineups and rotations. Among the possible deals, the guys wonder if the Pittsburgh Pirates could make a play for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal to add him to their dynamic rotation. They also discuss whether the New York Yankees could trade Jasson Domínguez and Will Warren to the Athletics in exchange for a new catcher.
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan are joined by Yuri Karasawa to discuss the impact that Rintaro Sasaki signing with the Miami Marlins could have on future Japanese players looking to make the leap to the major leagues. They also discuss why Shohei Ohtani might be kicking himself for missing out on a Cy Young Award this year, the impact Munetaka Murakami has had in America and two players to keep an eye on in NPB. They close out the episode by making their weekly picks in The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.
