Raiders TE Brock Bowers impresses women with his hidden camera engagement video, Royals fan arrested & 510 lbs
Here we are for another Friday Screencaps & July just keeps chugging along with below-normal temps (for now) and an upcoming weekend tee time on my calendar for the first time this month. After the golf trip blowout in June, I had to lay low, which I accomplished. Now it's back to the links and celebrating summer, but, first, we have to analyze this Brock Bowers engagement video that was posted on Thursday.
Bowers is the Raiders tight end who will likely end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. At some point this week, he proposed to his influencer girlfriend, and Tennessee grad, Cameron Newell. The key here is that this is being sold as a hidden camera proposal, with perfect audio, and blue checkmark Instagram influencers are eating it up.
"IM SOBBING YOU GUYSSSS," Kenny Pickett's wife gushed on Instagram.
I'm not. I'm wondering how the production team pulled this off. Are they mic'd up? Did some wedding planner plant microphones in the ornamental grasses?
And before your wife attacks me with hate emails, I'm truly happy for these two. Brock's 23. He could've gone into next week's training camp without popping the question. He could've put his head down and grinded through another NFL season with a loyal girlfriend, but the guy stepped up for humanity.
Now they'll probably have like four kids and repopulate the U.S. I'm going to celebrate that every single time.
TAYLOR SWIFT AND TRAVIS KELCE'S WEDDING COULD UNLEASH UNPRECEDENTED GLOBAL SPENDING FRENZY: EXPERT
I just can't get over these modern engagements where the woman acts like she's completely shocked. What am I to believe anymore? Do people actually read books on the beach? Are NFL tight end engagement videos staged? Was Taylor Swift in on decorating her engagement stage where Travis popped the question?
And while we're at it, are those card breaks where the influencers find some 1/1 card worth $500k staged?
My brain spends half of its day trying to figure out how it's being manipulated.

Would it be weird to bring in industrial fans and shoot the smoke back at the neighbor? Last night, I was on the patio with Mrs. Screencaps. She was running drip tube to her plants. I was pulling weeds and watching/listening to the final 50 miles of stage 18 of the Tour de France when it happened.
It's happened multiple times over the years. The neighbor lady will light up a cig on a calm, cool night, and without fail, the cig smoke gets up into the jet stream and guess who gets to smell it? We do.
Guess who cannot have their windows open because the smoke blows right into our windows? Yep, us.
I was hoping to not have to bring in box fans to cleanse the air on our patio, but that might be my only option here. Save the emails telling me to have a conversation with the neighbor. No thanks.
Would it be weird to bring in a fan like they have on ski slopes?
Looking back on my career, there have been a few moments where I cannot believe I was receiving emails that turned into worldwide stories that will be remembered for decades and written into obituaries down the road.
Rex Ryan's foot fetish era was one of those moments I'll never forget. It started with a simple email to myself and a Deadspin writer from a guy with a foot fetish. The rest is history.
– Anonymous (he's written multiple times over the years, but I have to protect people in case The Masters is reading) emails: Joe, writing to see if Screencaps or the TNML can offer some help……I had some luck this week as my best friend got drawn for Wednesday tickets for the Masters. He very kindly gave me two of them to use (repaying the same favor I did for him 10 years ago)….the issue Is I have 2 daughters (20 and 18) who both want to go….so I am in need of finding a third ticket. Can the community offer any advice on the best way to get a Wednesday ticket?
Kinsey: It's a great question that I believe will have a couple of simple answers: try buying on the secondary market and pray you don't get caught; or make the tough decision on which daughter gets to go and which one doesn't.
Or...dad gives up the two tickets to his daughters to go walk the grounds.
Talk about a crossroads moment in Anonymous' life. Let's face it, one of his daughters might not go, and may NEVER attend the Masters based on how hard it is to get tickets. Think of the immense pressure he's under.
Now, I will say that the emailer is a CONFIRMED Great American®, if you catch my drift. Some of you like to give back to those who have sacrificed for this country.
Needless to say, I'm intrigued how this plays out.
– Eric P. shares: I can tell you what explosive is in the context you mentioned by an experience in a Cabo shower when I thought it was a little squeaker but turned out to be new style of stucco that nobody needs on the walls..Yikes that took a lot of towels and a big tip for the cleaning woman.
– Jeff M. checks in: There is a whole generation that does not understand the lifelong brilliance of William Shatner. Nothing he does could surprise me at this point.

– John C. in Bowling Green, KY has something to get off his chest: Regarding the Cracker Barrel conversation, their problems are self-inflicted. I met with a men's group every week for breakfast there. The Old Timer's breakfast was $8.99 a short time ago. It's now $11.99, a 33% increase, but it now does not include grits and there is a $1 upcharge to substitute regular hash browns for the hash brown casserole. Even worse is that a cup of regular coffee is $3.39. Shameful!
Between stores selling Halloween decorations in early July, to pumpkin spice creamer being bought by our Florida readers in the middle of July, it's time for me to reignite my RESPECT SUMMER mantra.
