Dolphins reportedly sign All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks to 3-year, $51.3 million extension
On paper, the Miami Dolphins look like they are heading for a rebuilding year in 2026. But that doesn't mean the team is bereft of elite talent. The Dolphins took a major step toward retaining some of that talent Tuesday, reportedly signing linebacker Jordyn Brooks to a three-year, $51.3 million extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal comes as the 28-year-old Brooks was about to enter his walk year with the team in 2026.

After being selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Brooks emerged as a standout player almost immediately. After four solid years in Seattle, Brooks joined the Dolphins on a free-agent deal ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Brooks enjoyed a strong first year with the team before taking a step forward last season. In 2025, Brooks racked up a league-leading 183 combined tackles and 99 solo tackles. Both figures led the NFL. Because of that, Brooks was named to the All-Pro first team for the first time in his career.
His prowess for being around the ball is far from a fluke. Brooks also led the NFL in solo tackles in 2021, when he registered 109 with the Seahawks.
Brooks was one of the few bright spots on a weak Dolphins defense last season. The team ranked 24th in points allowed per game in 2025, allowing opponents to average 24.9 points per contest.
The team attempted to address some of those issues in the 2026 NFL Draft, picking up cornerback Chris Johnson and linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in the second and third rounds, respectively.
The Dolphins will also sport a new-look offense in 2026, led by free-agent singing Malik Willis at quarterback. Joining him will be running back De'Von Achane, who — like Brooks — signed a long-term extension this offseason to stick with the Dolphins. Achane signed for four years and $68 million.
While the jury is still out on Willis, Achane and Brooks are as solid as they come. Their extensions ensure both players should remain part of the team's core as the Dolphins try to get back to their winning ways.
