Kayla McBride swishes WNBA-record 10 3-pointers, scores career-high 43 points in Lynx's 103-90 win over Wings

The Minnesota Lynx certainly did not look worn down playing the second of back-to-back games while facing the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

Kayla McBride scored a career-high 43 points in the Lynx's 103-90 win over the Wings. McBride shot 16 for 21 from the floor, knocking down a WNBA record 10 of 14 3-pointers. Sunday's performance was the seventh time this season McBride has hit four or more shots from behind arc.

Olivia Miles added 20 points (hitting 5-of-8 3s) with 13 assists, while Naphessa Collier scored 17 in addition to 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block.

With the win, the Lynx improved their record to 27-7 and became the first WNBA team this season to clinch a playoff spot. Minnesota holds a 3.5-game lead for the league's No. 1 seed over the Golden State Valkyries and is 4.5 games in front of the Las Vegas Aces with 10 games remaining on its regular-season schedule.

Speaking of the Aces, coach Becky Hammon rested A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young following Saturday's matchup with the Lynx and lost badly to the New York Liberty, 111-71.

Despite also playing a back-to-back, Minnesota kept all of its star players in the lineup with four of its five starters playing 31 minutes or more. Though to be fair, the Lynx had more than 24 hours between Saturday's and Sunday's games, while the Aces had fewer.

Minnesota is off until Wednesday when it begins a four-game road trip at the Portland Fire. The Lynx will also face the Aces, Valkyries and Washington Mystics during that span.

Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 23 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Aziaha James followed with 19 points and six boards off the bench, and Odyssey Sims added 17 points.

Azzi Fudd missed her second consecutive game with knee soreness, depriving Dallas of her 13.1 points per game average. Arike Ogunbowale (14.8 ppg) tallied only five points and Jessica Shepard (14.7 ppg) went scoreless, far below their season numbers.

The Wings' defeat combined with the Liberty's victory on Sunday nudged Dallas down to the No. 8 seed and final playoff spot in the WNBA standings. However, the Wings (19-14) are only one game behind New York (20-13), the Atlanta Dream (19-12) and the Mystics (19-12), and 1.5 games back from the fourth-place Indiana Fever (20-12) with 11 games remaining.

Dallas is off until Wednesday when it hosts the Toronto Tempo (10-21), then visits the Fever on Friday.
