Jannik Sinner withdraws from Cincinnati Open, puts US Open availability into question

Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open, the tournament announced on Sunday.

After consulting with my doctors and my team, I have to announce that I need to withdraw from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati,” Sinner said in a statement with the Cincinnati Open’s press release.

“My right knee has been bothering me and even though we have been working hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I’m not ready to compete yet,” he added.

The Cincinnati Open begins this week on Aug. 11 with the finals scheduled for Aug. 23. That’s one week before the singles draw begins for the US Open, which could put Sinner’s availability for that Grand Slam tournament, which he won in 2024, into question.
