Chiefs WRs Xavier Worthy, Cyrus Allen get checked for injuries Saturday
The Kansas City Chiefs have been in training camp for only a few days, and already injuries are popping up.
Wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Cyrus Allen are getting evaluated for injuries sustained on Saturday that forced them to leave practice early. Worthy is being evaluated for a shoulder injury.
The speedy wideout is heading into his third season after Kansas City drafted him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He showed promise as a rookie, finishing with 638 yards and nine total touchdowns — six receiving, three rushing.
Last season, Worthy played in 14 games. He came down with 42 of his 73 targets for 532 yards and a single touchdown.
Allen's injury appears more concerning early on. The rookie left practice on a cart while shaking his head and is being checked for a lower-body injury. His injury occurred when he collided with a teammate during a punt drill.

Allen was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. He played in college from 2022 to 2025, splitting time between Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M and Cincinnati.
The wideout totaled 2,221 yards and 22 touchdowns over 44 career games. His final season at Cincinnati last year was his best. He finished with 674 yards and 13 touchdowns. Allen's 13 scores were nine more than he had in a single season prior to last year.
Both players are still being evaluated for their injuries, and the severity of each is unknown. Kansas City didn't do much to address its wide receiver depth during the offseason outside of adding Allen.
On the off chance that Worthy and Allen suffered serious injuries, the Chiefs' depth at the position would come into question.
Kansas City would be left with Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Royals and Nikko Remigio as its top wide receivers heading into a season that the franchise hopes to bounce back in after going 6-11 and missing the playoffs last season.
