The San Francisco 49ers are already dealing with injuries as training camp gets underway.

On Wednesday, it was reported that wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is dealing with knee swelling stemming from the PCL injury he suffered during the 2025 season.

San Francisco is reportedly exploring “all options” and that there is “some concern” around the injury.

The Pearsall news comes on the heels of fellow wideout Christian Kirk being diagnosed with a calf injury. The 49ers’ wide receiver corps is already dealing with injuries, a theme that lasted throughout their 2025 campaign.

Pearsall has had an injury-riddled start to his career. Before the start of his rookie season, he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest that sidelined him for half of 2024.

The wide receiver then dealt with a hamstring injury during the 2025 preseason. He was able to play the first four weeks of the season, but then suffered a PCL injury that caused him to miss six games.

Pearsall has been limited to just 20 total games through two years. He has combined for 928 yards and three touchdowns on 67 receptions.

Last year, in nine games, he had 528 yards, but did not find the end zone.

San Francisco’s wide receiver depth could be an issue if Pearsall misses significant time. Last year, Jauan Jennings had the most production among the team’s wide receivers with 643 yards and nine touchdowns. The 49ers let him walk in free agency, and he signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

Brandon Aiyuk remains with the organization, but he is not active and is away from the team in what appears to be a severed relationship between himself and the team.

Kirk was one of San Francisco’s WR adds in the offseason. The 49ers also signed veteran wideout Mike Evans. Currently, the 32-year-old is the most prominent healthy pass-catcher on the team.

The injuries to Pearsall and Kirk could provide an opportunity for rookie wideout De’Zhaun Stribling. The Ole Miss product was selected with the 33rd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
