CBS analyst Tony Romo reportedly arrested in Milwaukee for suspicion of operating while intoxicated

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback — and current CBS analyst — Tony Romo was reportedly arrested Thursday for suspicion of operating while intoxicated (OWI), per FOX6 News in Wisconsin.

Romo, 46, was reportedly arrested by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office while driving on a highway in the city. An arrest detention report obtained by FOX6 News claimed Romo was taken into custody after performing poorly when given a field-sobriety test.

Romo was reportedly booked and released and due back in court Sept. 21.

A first offense charge or OWI carries a fine and a temporary driver's license suspension in Wisconsin. Depending on Romo's blood-alcohol level, he could also be subject to a year in a sobriety program.

It's unclear whether the arrest will affect Romo's employment with CBS. If that court date holds, it would take place on a Monday during the NFL season. Romo typically works on Sundays during the NFL regular season.

Romo, who grew up and went to high school in Wisconsin, attended Eastern Illinois before he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cowboys in 2003.

He worked his way onto the 53-man roster and eventually claimed a starting role three years later. Romo impressed immediately in his first opportunity as a starter, tossing 19 touchdowns against 13 interceptions in 10 starts and making the Pro Bowl.

Over his 13-year career, all of which came with the Cowboys, Romo threw 248 touchdowns. He made four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro second team during his career.

Upon retiring from the NFL, Romo began working as the lead color commentator for CBS, where he's frequently paired up with Jim Nantz to call games, including Super Bowl LVIII.
